The upcoming “iPhone SE 4” is rumored to be branded as the “iPhone 16E”

Apple is expected to launch the fourth-generation iPhone SE in March, but rumors suggest it could carry a different name. Instead of the iPhone SE 4, the device may be called the iPhone 16E, according to a post from Fixed Focus Digital on December 13. The claim was later echoed by leaker Majin Bu on December 31.

It remains unclear whether the “E” in the name would be capitalized, or if it would be styled as “iPhone 16e” or “iPhone 16 with an E inside a square.” Alternatively, Apple could opt to stick with the iPhone SE branding, and the rumor may be incorrect.

iPhone SE 4 Thumb 1

Fixed Focus Digital, known for its presence on Weibo, has not yet established a solid reputation for Apple leaks. The account did accurately predict the introduction of a new bronze finish for the iPhone 16 Pro models (later confirmed as Desert Titanium), but it was wrong about the number of color options for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The accuracy of its claims regarding the iPhone SE successor’s design and name will be critical.

The device is rumored to adopt a similar design to the iPhone 14, aligning closely with the iPhone 16’s base model. Expected features include a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a USB-C port, a 48-megapixel rear camera, a new A-series chip, 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence, and Apple’s first in-house 5G modem. It’s unclear whether the device will feature the Action button introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro models.

The current iPhone SE, released in March 2022, resembles the iPhone 8 with its outdated features, including a Touch ID button, Lightning port, and thick bezels. The U.S. price for the iPhone SE currently starts at $429, but the next model is likely to see a price increase.
