Philips Hue is introducing an AI-powered lighting assistant that allows users to create personalized lighting scenes based on their mood, occasion, or style. This new feature lets users generate custom lighting setups by typing commands like “Create a scene for a garden party” in the Hue app or using voice commands. The assistant will either suggest scenes from the Philips Hue gallery or generate a completely new scene. In addition to scene creation, the AI assistant can also adjust existing light settings, including brightness and color.
This feature follows reports from Hueblog in October, which highlighted Philips Hue’s work on an AI-driven lighting tool, referred to as the “AI Playground.” While Govee and Nanoleaf have already introduced similar AI lighting features, Philips Hue’s assistant stands out with its compatibility with all Hue lights and the ability to respond to both voice and text commands.
The AI-powered lighting assistant will begin rolling out in the first quarter of 2025. Along with this, Philips Hue has announced other updates, including compatibility of the Philips Hue Sync TV app with LG TVs and the release of the Philips Hue Datura ceiling light in the U.S. for $299.99. Additionally, Philips Hue is adding new smart home security features such as smoke alarm sound detection and live camera streaming to Amazon Alexa and Google Nest Hub.
