Google has announced that it is integrating all AI features in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Meet for Workspace customers at no additional cost. However, the price of the Workspace Business Standard plan will see a $2 per user per month increase, bringing the new rate to $14 per user per month. This update simplifies access to a range of Workplace AI tools, including features like email summaries, automated note-taking, and the ability to chat with the Gemini AI bot.
The new pricing structure will take effect immediately for new customers, with existing users seeing the changes starting March 17, 2025. However, small business customers will not be affected by these pricing changes for the time being. For those who had previously subscribed to the Gemini add-on, they will continue to have access to the features but will not be charged for the subscription after January 31.
This move is part of Google’s strategy to stay competitive in the market, as it faces increasing pressure from Microsoft, which recently bundled its Copilot AI features into the standard Microsoft 365 subscription. By offering AI tools without additional charges, Google aims to appeal to businesses seeking cost-effective solutions while expanding its AI capabilities across its suite of productivity tools.
