WHATSAPP:
WhatsApp is rolling out several new features, including the ability to turn selfies into stickers, share sticker packs, and apply new camera effects. These additions are designed to boost user engagement and enhance interaction.
The app introduced the ability to create custom stickers from photos last year, and now it’s adding an option to transform selfies into stickers directly. When you tap on the “Create stickers” button in the stickers menu, you’ll see a camera option. From there, you can take a selfie, which will be converted into a sticker and saved to your sticker tray. Meta also launched AI-generated stickers through Meta AI in the U.S. last year.

Another new feature is the ability to share sticker packs directly with others via links, making it easier to share your favorite packs.
NEW FEATURES:
“We’re constantly working to make WhatsApp more user-friendly and enjoyable, and we’re excited to start the new year with a range of new features and design enhancements.
- Camera Effects: After the success of video call effects last year, we’re bringing 30 new backgrounds, filters, and effects to your photos and videos, making it easier to add fun touches to your shots.
- Selfie Stickers: For those who love custom stickers, you can now turn your selfie into a sticker. Simply tap on the ‘Create Sticker’ button and select the camera option to take a selfie and create your sticker. This feature is available on Android and will be coming to iOS soon.
- Share Sticker Packs: Found a sticker pack you think your friend would love? Now you can easily share it directly in your chats.
- Quicker Reactions: You can now double-tap a message to react, and quickly scroll through your most-used reactions for faster replies.”
Additionally, WhatsApp is introducing 30 new backgrounds, filters, and effects for photos and videos. Following the release of video call filters last year, these effects are now available for use with WhatsApp’s camera, similar to Snapchat Lenses or Instagram filters.
The app is also adding a new way to react to messages by double-tapping them, which brings up your most-used reactions.
