The ad-supported tier will go from $6.99 to $7.99 per month, the standard ad-free plan will increase from $15.49 to $17.99, and the premium tier will jump from $22.99 to $24.99. The price hikes are attributed to Netflix’s continued investment in programming and enhancing member value. This marks the first price increase for the ad-supported plan, which was introduced in 2022.
Netflix’s global subscriber count hit 300 million, with 19 million new subscribers added in the past quarter, the highest single-quarter increase in its history. Despite reaching new highs, Netflix sees further growth potential, as it currently accounts for less than 10% of TV viewing in its available markets.
Additionally, Netflix introduced a new Extra Member with Ads plan, allowing subscribers to add an ad-supported membership for $6.99 per month, while the price for adding an extra member on an ad-free plan has increased to $8.99.
The company also noted its increasing focus on live content, including high-profile events like NFL games, with performances from stars like Beyoncé and Mariah Carey. However, Netflix emphasized that its live content strategy is more about special event programming rather than acquiring regular season sports rights.
