Adobe Launches ‘Firefly Video Model’ to Compete with ‘Sora’ and ‘Veo 2’ in AI Video Generation

Adobe has launched its new AI-powered video generation tool, the “Firefly Video Model,” as part of the Firefly web app, marking a significant step in the growing competition in AI-driven video creation. The tool is now available for public testing, allowing users to generate video clips from text descriptions or uploaded reference images. The new feature offers various video styles, including different camera angles, motion, and shooting distances, with a focus on providing a creative starting point for video production.

The Firefly Video Model can generate five-second video clips at 1080p resolution. While shorter than OpenAI’s 20-second video offerings, Adobe argues that most video productions typically use clips averaging only three seconds, making this feature suitable for many users. In addition to creating new videos, the tool is also designed to enhance and fix existing footage. Users can input real production shots to correct issues like poor lighting or missing details, and expand scenes when needed, positioning Adobe’s tool as a practical solution for video editing and enhancement.

Adobe also introduced a credit-based subscription model, with the Firefly Standard plan offering 20 clips (2,000 credits) per month for $9.99 and the Firefly Pro plan offering 70 clips (7,000 credits) for $29.99. Adobe plans to launch a “Premium” plan for studios and high-volume creators later this year. Additionally, the company is developing a 4K video generation service. The Firefly Video Model will compete with OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo 2 models in the AI video creation market.
