Google is enhancing its AI assistant, Gemini, with new features that allow users to ask questions using video and real-time screen content. These updates aim to make Gemini more interactive and responsive to user needs.

At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025) in Barcelona, Google introduced a new “Screenshare” feature, which enables users to share their phone’s screen with Gemini and ask contextual questions. For instance, during the demonstration, Google showcased a scenario where a user was shopping for baggy jeans and asked Gemini for fashion advice on complementary clothing options. This feature could be especially useful for shopping, troubleshooting apps, or understanding content on-screen.

Another major upgrade is the video search feature, which Google had initially teased at Google I/O last year. This capability allows users to record a video in real-time and ask Gemini questions about what’s being filmed. This could prove valuable in various scenarios, such as identifying objects, understanding technical issues, or even receiving educational insights while filming an event or subject.

These powerful new features will be available to Gemini Advanced users through the Google One AI Premium plan on Android. Google confirmed that the rollout will begin later this month.

By integrating video-based and screen-sharing interactions, Gemini is evolving beyond text-based AI responses, providing a more intuitive and interactive assistant experience.
