Google Play Introduces ‘Verified’ Badge for Trusted VPN Apps

Google Play is introducing a “Verified” badge for select VPN apps to help users easily find trusted services. Apps with this badge prioritize user privacy and security, meeting Play’s safety guidelines and completing a Mobile Application Security Assessment (MASA) Level 2 validation, ensuring they’ve been thoroughly checked for security.

NordVPN is a popular VPN service known for its focus on privacy and security. It helps users protect their internet traffic by encrypting it and masking their IP address, providing anonymity and security while browsing the web. NordVPN offers features like a strict no-logs policy, protection against malware, and the ability to bypass geo-restrictions for streaming services. It has a wide range of servers across the globe and is compatible with multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers.

To qualify for the badge, VPN apps must have at least 10,000 installs, 250 reviews, and be available on Google Play for a minimum of 90 days. The app must also meet the target API level requirements. The Verified badge will be displayed on the app’s detail page and in search results, allowing these apps to stand out. Google has also added new features in the Play Store to highlight verified VPN apps.

According to Google, the badge is designed to help users make more informed decisions about their VPN choices and boost confidence in the apps they download. This move is part of Google’s broader efforts to identify and promote safe apps on its platform, following its introduction of “Government” labels for official state and federal apps last May.
