How to Speed Up Game Downloads on PlayStation

As PS5 games continue to grow in size, often exceeding 100GB, downloading them can take a while. Whether you’re downloading from PlayStation Plus or using a disc, these tips can help speed up the process.

PLAY LIKE NEVER BEFORE

Experience lightning-fast loading with an ultra-high speed SSD, deeper immersion with support for haptic feedback1, adaptive triggers1 and 3D Audio1, and an incredible collection of PlayStation games.

Immerse yourself in games that look and sound stunning, including console exclusives from PlayStation Studios and full backwards compatibility for your PS4 library.

Optimize Your Connection:
  1. Use a Wired Connection: If possible, connect your PS5 directly to your router with an Ethernet cable for faster and more stable speeds than Wi-Fi.
  2. Move Closer to the Router: If a wired connection isn’t an option, place your PS5 closer to the router to reduce obstacles and improve Wi-Fi performance.
  3. Limit Network Usage: Disconnect other devices from the network while downloading to ensure your PS5 has the full bandwidth.

Minimize Console Activity: Running multiple apps or games will slow down downloads. To maximize speed, start the download and then put your PS5 into Rest Mode, dedicating all resources to the download. Just make sure Rest Mode is set to allow downloads under Settings -> System -> Power Saving -> Features Available in Rest Mode.
