INSTA 360:

Insta360 has introduced the Flow 2 Pro, an upgraded version of its stabilized smartphone gimbal, following the release of the original last July. The new model features Insta360’s advanced Deep Track 4.0 AI tracking technology, which can now track multiple people simultaneously and offers greater flexibility in framing subjects. Additionally, the gimbal’s retractable tripod legs have been reinforced, enhancing its performance as a hands-free autonomous camera operator.

Priced at $159.99, the Flow 2 Pro is available starting today in stone gray and summit white. While it costs $10 more than the Flow Pro, it matches the price of Insta360’s first Flow gimbal from early 2023. Like its predecessor, the Flow 2 Pro supports Apple’s DockKit framework, enabling subject tracking within the iPhone’s native Camera app and third-party apps like Blackmagic Camera.

When paired with Insta360’s app for iOS and Android, the gimbal becomes even more capable, leveraging Deep Track 4.0 to keep groups centered in the frame, track non-human subjects like animals or objects, and maintain tracking with up to 15x zoom. A new “Pro Framing Grid” feature lets users select from nine grid squares for creative framing, beyond simply centering the subject.

The Flow 2 Pro is slightly lighter than its predecessor, weighing 357 grams compared to 366 grams, and offers an estimated 10 hours of battery life when used on a flat surface with its tripod legs. Handheld use reduces battery life due to continuous stabilization, though Insta360 hasn’t provided specifics. A new mirror on the gimbal’s mount allows users to frame selfies with their smartphone’s rear cameras for higher-quality shots. For remote operation, users can now control the gimbal and recording via a second smartphone or an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch enables panning the gimbal with screen swipes and adjusting zoom using the Digital Crown.

With these updates, the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro offers enhanced functionality and creative flexibility for both casual and professional users.
