Lenovo ThinkBook Flip: Extra-Tall Folding Display

Lenovo ThinkBook Flip: Extra-Tall Folding Display

At Mobile World Congress, Lenovo is unveiling another bold experiment: the ThinkBook “codename Flip” AI PC Concept. Designed for business and productivity, this innovative laptop features a flexible OLED display, allowing it to function in multiple modes. Users can operate it as a traditional 13.1-inch clamshell laptop, a compact 12.9-inch tablet, or extend the screen vertically for an extra-tall 18.1-inch display—all within a single device.

The ThinkBook Flip shares the same OLED panel as the upcoming $3,500 ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, expected to launch in June. However, instead of sliding out from underneath the main display, the Flip’s screen folds behind the primary section. This design eliminates the need for motors, potentially lowering costs, while ensuring no part of the display remains hidden inside the chassis. As a result, the Flip offers 0.4 inches of additional screen real estate compared to the Gen 6.

In standard laptop mode, the Flip resembles a 13-inch clamshell, although nearly half of its display faces backward. This rear-facing section can mirror or extend the primary screen, making it ideal for presentations without requiring an external monitor or projector. Alternatively, users can choose to keep it blank.

The Flip’s standout feature is its full 18.1-inch vertical mode, boasting a 2000 x 2664 OLED resolution. This mode enhances productivity by providing a taller display, making it perfect for viewing long documents, scrolling through websites, and improving ergonomics. The elevated screen position also places the webcam at eye level, reducing neck strain and enhancing video calls.

With its versatile folding design, the ThinkBook Flip represents Lenovo’s latest step in redefining the future of business laptops.
