LG and Samsung are incorporating Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant into their TVs

Copilot on TVs appears to be little more than a web app that connects to Microsoft’s AI assistant. At CES 2025, LG and Samsung unveiled their new smart TVs, with some models featuring access to Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant. Both manufacturers are tapping into the AI trend, adding dedicated AI sections to their smart TVs, which include a shortcut to the Copilot web app.

LG is introducing an entire AI section to its TVs and renaming its remote to “AI Remote” to emphasize the capabilities of large language models. While the specifics of how Copilot functions on LG’s new TVs remain unclear, the company describes its integration as a tool to help users “efficiently find and organize complex information using contextual cues.”

Samsung is showing off its AI Vision features at CES this week.

While LG hasn’t yet demonstrated its Copilot integration, it has shown off its AI Chatbot as part of the TV’s features. Copilot will likely appear when users search for more information on specific topics. Samsung, on the other hand, has its own Vision AI branding for its TV features, including AI upscaling, Auto HDR Remastering, and Adaptive Sound Pro. The new remote features an AI button to access AI functions, such as identifying food on screen or using AI home security features to analyze video from smart cameras.

Microsoft’s Copilot will be integrated into Samsung’s Vision AI section. According to Samsung’s press release, the partnership will allow users to explore a variety of Copilot services, such as personalized content recommendations.

However, when asked for more details or images of Copilot in action, Samsung declined to provide further information. Similarly, LG and Microsoft have not responded to requests for additional details. Without clear information on how Copilot functions on these TVs, it seems like a feature that LG, Samsung, and Microsoft are not yet ready to fully showcase.
