LG’s 2025 gaming monitor lineup includes two standout models in the UltraGear GX9 series, featuring two 45-inch monitors that LG says are ideal for both gaming and productivity. LG is unveiling its new gaming monitor collection ahead of CES, with the highlight being the UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor, which it claims is the “world’s first 5K2K-resolution bendable OLED display.” While that’s a very specific claim, being the first to introduce such a feature is certainly worth celebrating.
The 45-inch monitor boasts a 5120×2160 resolution, offering the same vertical pixel count as a standard 4K screen but with a much wider display. With its 21:9 aspect ratio, LG suggests the monitor provides a more immersive gaming experience than traditional 16:9 displays, while maintaining better compatibility with content compared to 32:9 monitors. This format also makes it a great option for productivity when you’re not gaming.
The UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor (model 45GX990A) can switch from a completely flat screen to a 900R curvature. It features an updated version of LG’s Dual-Mode, which allows users to seamlessly switch between resolution and refresh rate presets, while customizing the aspect ratio and picture size. It’s certified for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, though the press materials don’t mention the maximum refresh rate, so more details are awaited.
LG is also introducing a non-bendable version with a fixed 800R curve. This model offers the same 45-inch size, 5K2K resolution, and aspect ratio. LG’s press release highlights the sharp, lifelike images with exceptional contrast and colors typical of OLED displays. Both monitors share specs such as a 0.03ms (GtG) response time and support for DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery. The 45GX950A model uses an RGWB subpixel layout, enhancing text readability and making it easier on the eyes for productivity tasks.
In addition to these two models, LG is launching the curved UltraGear 39GX90SA, a webOS-powered “home entertainment hub” with direct access to streaming services, similar to LG’s TVs. At 39 inches, it’s slightly smaller than the other GX9 models but retains the 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curve. It also features USB Type-C ports for convenient connectivity and an ergonomic, space-saving L-shaped stand for a clutter-free desk setup.
As with most CES announcements, specific pricing and release dates will be revealed later in 2025. However, we’ll get an in-person preview of the UltraGear GX9 series in Las Vegas, with more impressions and exciting monitor reveals expected next month.
