Job seekers and recruiters on LinkedIn have long faced the challenge of standing out in a sea of applications, with thousands of submissions pouring in for each job listing. To address this, LinkedIn has launched a new Jobs Match tool designed to provide immediate, personalized advice to its 1 billion users about whether a job posting is worth applying for. With users submitting around 9,000 applications per minute, this feature aims to guide job seekers toward opportunities that align with their profiles, helping them navigate the overwhelming competition.
Additionally, LinkedIn is introducing an AI recruitment agent aimed at smaller businesses. This tool, designed to replicate the work of larger recruitment teams, helps companies streamline job postings, find qualified candidates, and manage applications. Both the Jobs Match tool and the AI recruitment agent are free for basic users, meaning you don’t need to be a premium subscriber to access these features.
The new tools were primarily built using LinkedIn’s own AI technology and first-party data, a shift from its previous reliance on OpenAI technology, which has powered other generative AI tools on the platform. LinkedIn has historically focused on using AI for tasks like suggesting connections and managing its data but is now turning to generative AI to enhance job recruitment and application processes.
These updates come at a time when there are over 5 million users with the “Open to Work” status and 67 million active job seekers each week. While LinkedIn has more than a billion registered users, the job-seeking segment remains relatively small, and the new tools aim to make the recruitment process less tedious and more efficient. By offering these AI tools to all users, LinkedIn is hoping to increase engagement and make its platform more useful for job seekers and recruiters alike. This move could also boost its recruitment business, especially as it faces competition from other platforms and scrutiny over its data usage practices.
