Meta Introduces AI Video Editing Tools for Advertisers

Meta is testing innovative AI-powered tools that enable advertisers to animate still images and expand video backgrounds, bringing dynamic new options to Facebook and Instagram ads. These advancements aim to make ad creation more engaging and accessible.

With the AI animation tool, advertisers can upload a static image, and Meta’s technology will generate a video from it. For instance, in one example, the tool animates strawberries floating gently in the background of a jar. Another feature uses AI to expand the borders of an existing video by generating “unseen pixels” in each frame, similar to how AI tools enhance image backgrounds.

These features are rolling out now, with wider availability planned for early next year. They build on Meta’s existing AI capabilities, which already support text and image generation for ads. Additionally, these AI-enhanced ads will appear on the new full-screen video tab set to launch on Facebook.

Meta isn’t alone in adopting AI for advertising. Amazon recently introduced a tool that creates video clips from product images, and TikTok is experimenting with AI-generated avatars for ads. Together, these innovations are reshaping the digital advertising landscape.
