Although the Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup, launched in January 2024, is still fresh, attention is already shifting toward the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series.
The Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra have exceeded expectations, with reports confirming strong sales, including 10 million units sold globally within the first month. This early success has led Samsung to revise its sales projections upward.
Despite rival Apple reclaiming the top spot in European smartphone sales earlier this year, Samsung’s momentum with the S24 series remains strong.
When is the Samsung Galaxy S25 expected to launch?
The Galaxy S25 series is likely to debut in early 2025, following the trend of recent Galaxy S launches. In recent years, Samsung has shifted the release window of its Galaxy S series, which traditionally launched in February or March. The Galaxy S24, however, had its earliest release ever, with the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17 and devices shipping by January 31. No specific release date has been confirmed yet for the S25.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Expected Specs and Features
Rumors suggest the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will bring several notable upgrades, from enhanced cameras to more powerful AI and next-gen chips.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
While the Galaxy S24 series is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, capable of reaching 3.3GHz, the Galaxy S25 might feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, potentially boosting performance with speeds up to 4GHz. According to South Korean site Ajunews, this chip is expected to be used in many flagship Android devices in 2025, and it may support LPDDR6 RAM (Low-Power Double Data Rate 6).
AI Improvements
Larger Battery
A “battery AI” feature could help optimize battery life on the Galaxy S25, potentially improving endurance by 5-10% without compromising performance. If LPDDR6 RAM is included, larger batteries will likely be needed to support the increased processing power.
Bigger Display
Leaks from technology tipster Anthony (@TheGalox) suggest the Galaxy S25 may feature a 6.36-inch screen, up from the 6.2-inch display on the Galaxy S24. This would put the S25 in line with the rumored display size of the iPhone 16 Pro.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Price Estimate
Samsung’s pricing strategy for the Galaxy S series has generally been consistent, and while the addition of new features and hardware might drive up costs, it’s expected that the Galaxy S25’s base price will remain around $799, the same as the Galaxy S24. However, with the inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which could increase costs, some speculate that the S25 might come at a slightly higher price point.
Despite the competitive market, it is expected that Samsung will keep the base price of the Galaxy S25 series comparable to its predecessor.
