Samsung to launch smart glasses with motion tracking this year.

At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, the company teased its upcoming smart glasses, “Haean,” expected to launch by year-end. Designed for everyday wear, these lightweight and stylish glasses aim to blend seamlessly into daily life, much like Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses.

The “Haean” glasses will run on Android XR OS, introduced in 2024, and integrate Samsung’s Gemini AI assistant. While they won’t feature a built-in display, they will include motion tracking through cameras and sensors, enabling fitness tracking, navigation, video recording, music playback, calls, and social sharing. Samsung also emphasizes AI-driven innovation, with Galaxy AI potentially offering real-time translation and context-aware assistance.

Samsung’s broader strategy includes the Project Moohan XR headset, set to launch alongside “Haean” by late 2025. Moohan, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, will be the first device running Android XR OS and is anticipated to feature eye tracking, hand gestures, and voice controls, competing with high-end XR devices like Apple Vision Pro.

The “Haean” smart glasses will focus on enhancing user convenience, seamlessly integrating AI and XR features into daily life. Samsung’s vision for wearable tech extends beyond functionality, emphasizing style, comfort, and accessibility. While these glasses won’t replace traditional augmented reality (AR) devices, they provide a more practical and approachable alternative for users looking to experience next-gen smart technology.

Samsung’s foray into XR with “Haean” and Moohan could redefine wearable tech, offering a balance of AI-driven features, practicality, and immersive experiences. As competition in the XR space heats up, Samsung’s innovation in AI-powered wearables could shape the future of smart glasses and extended reality devices.
