Sony’s Black PlayStation 5 Accessories Now Open for Preorder

Sony recently unveiled a collection of sleek black PlayStation 5 accessories during CES last week, and they are now available for preorder ahead of their February 20th release date. The lineup includes the DualSense Edge controller ($199.99), Pulse Elite headset ($149.99), Pulse Explore wireless earbuds ($199.99), and PlayStation Portal ($199.99). These can be preordered starting today through Sony, Amazon, and other major retailers.

The new accessories mirror the design of the black DualSense controller released in 2021. The PlayStation Portal now features black buttons similar to the DualSense Edge, while retaining the glossy black accents of the original white model. The Pulse Explore earbuds come with a jet-black charging case, and the Pulse Elite headset includes a matching black charging hanger and felt carrying case.

While the updated designs add style, they don’t introduce new functionality. The black PlayStation Portal remains the same handheld remote player reviewed in 2023, offering the same battery life and limitations as the original but now supports cloud streaming. The Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite headphones support Sony’s low-latency, lossless wireless audio codec and work with the PS5, PS Portal, Windows PCs, and macOS. The black DualSense Edge controller continues to provide deep customization and seamless PS5 software integration.
