SoundCloud unveiled a new, more affordable subscription plan for artists, called Artist, alongside a rebranded Artist Pro plan. The basic Artist plan is priced at $39 per year and offers a limited set of features, including track amplification, distribution, monetization, and AI mastering. Subscribers to this plan can upload up to 3 hours of music across any number of tracks, maintaining the same upload limit as the free tier.
The Artist plan provides several key benefits, such as the ability to amplify new tracks to reach over 100 listeners and distribute music to other platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and TikTok. Artists keep 100% of their royalties from SoundCloud and retain earnings from external platforms for up to two tracks per month. Additionally, users can replace three tracks per month without losing any stats, plays, likes, or comments. The plan also includes one free track mastering credit per month through SoundCloud’s tools. After testing in countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, this new plan is now available globally.
For artists who need higher limits, including unlimited uploads, amplification, monetization, and track replacements, SoundCloud offers the $99 per year Artist Pro plan. This plan also includes three AI mastering credits each month and community management tools.
SoundCloud’s CEO Eliah Seton emphasized that the company aims to provide emerging musicians with professional-grade tools and distribution options at an affordable price, eliminating cost and complexity as barriers to success. Additionally, earlier this year, SoundCloud launched a merch store, allowing artists to design and sell their own merchandise.
