Tesla’s holiday update this year brings a host of exciting new features, including a digital phone key for the Apple Watch, the ability to access and save Sentry Mode security footage via the Tesla app, and more. Starting next week, Tesla will roll out support for Apple Watch, allowing users to leave their phone behind while running errands or quickly pop the trunk or frunk with ease. The app will also allow you to check your car’s charge status and remotely warm it up.
Other major updates include the ability to view and save Dashcam and Sentry Mode clips directly to your phone, making it easier to share footage with insurance or law enforcement. Tesla’s annual light show returns with two new performances, and the Cybertruck will get a special “Santa Mode” featuring a Tesla Bot in a cyber sleigh. Additional updates include rear seat arcade games, a larger rear camera feed with pinch-to-zoom, and new customization options for the Cybertruck’s on-screen appearance.
A new rear cross-traffic alert feature adds a layer of safety, providing warnings and a red bar on the rearview camera feed when detecting moving objects or pedestrians while reversing. The music volume will also automatically lower when in reverse, a feature already available in many other vehicles. Additionally, Tesla owners can now set “arrival energy at destination” to ensure they have enough battery charge when they reach their destination.
Other improvements include detour time estimates for route planning, weather and precipitation indicators, new Sirius XM and TuneIn apps, in-vehicle maintenance summaries, adjustable passenger seats from the screen, door handle pull alerts, and a new party game called Boomerang Fu. And for a bit of fun, the fart app can now activate as soon as someone sits in a seat!
