WhatsApp may soon allow iPhone users to manage multiple accounts on a single device. This new feature, currently available in the TestFlight beta, suggests it could be rolling out to all users soon. Android users have had this feature since 2023, but better late than never.
If you have a newer iPhone that supports dual-SIM (one physical SIM and one eSIM), you can set up two WhatsApp accounts. Each SIM will have its own phone number, allowing you to register separate WhatsApp accounts for each number.
You can now use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones at the same time, using your primary phone to link up to four devices. You’ll need to log in to your primary phone every 14 days to keep linked devices connected to your WhatsApp account.
To set up additional accounts, users will need another phone number or a device supporting multiple SIM cards or eSIM. The feature eliminates the need for multiple devices or parallel apps, making account management easier. Users can add a new account by setting it up as a primary account or by scanning a QR code to link it as a companion.
Each account will operate independently, with separate notifications, chats, backups, and settings. The update allows iPhone users to manage both personal and work-related accounts within the same app, without needing to switch between the main WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business apps.
The ability to separate work and personal communications, manage multiple businesses, or create distinct profiles for different social circles are just a few reasons this feature is useful.
