As Amazon turns 30, three factors will define its next decade

Amazon has entered the automotive market, starting with Hyundai, and plans to expand its offerings next year. Known for selling everything from household essentials to tiny homes, Amazon is now adding cars to its lineup. Starting today, customers in 48 cities across the continental U.S. can purchase a new Hyundai through Amazon Autos and pick it up at a local dealership. The platform allows users to explore available models, customize their search by make, model, trim, color, and features, and even view financing options.

Buyers can schedule a pick-up at a nearby dealership and instantly receive a valuation for trading in their current vehicle, which can be dropped off when collecting their new car. Amazon promises transparent pricing to eliminate the need for traditional sales negotiations. The familiar Amazon interface also includes user reviews for cars and dealerships, making the experience convenient and user-friendly.

Currently, the service is available in metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., among others. Amazon plans to add more Hyundai dealerships and expand to additional manufacturers, brands, cities, and features next year.
