Zomato Unveils New Parent Company ‘Eternal’

Zomato has officially rebranded its parent company to “Eternal Ltd.” after receiving approval from its board. The change was announced by Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s founder and CEO, who revealed that the company had already been using the new name internally for the past two years. This decision follows Zomato’s acquisition of BlinkIt in August 2022, which led to the need for a distinct name to differentiate the parent company from the Zomato food delivery app.

The name change process required approval from various regulatory bodies, including shareholders and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Despite the rebranding, the Zomato app itself retains its original name. The new name, Eternal Ltd., will appear in official documents and stock exchanges, while Zomato will continue to operate under its original brand for food delivery services.

Deepinder Goyal explained that the name “Eternal” is both powerful and daunting, symbolizing a significant commitment. He shared that the internal use of “Eternal” began with BlinkIt’s acquisition, signaling the shift towards a broader business focus beyond food delivery.

In its latest financial report for Q3 FY 2024-25, Zomato reported a strong performance, with a 57% year-on-year growth in gross order value (GOV) and a 58% increase in revenue. The company’s plans include expanding Blinkit’s quick-commerce network, targeting 1,000 new stores by 2025, supported by its recent $1 billion QIP fundraising.
